Depaul France and Publicis Conseil both wanted to test out for real their feeling that, when out on the street, people tend to pay more attention to abandoned animals than to homeless individuals. For one day, a homeless person and a dog sat a few meters apart on the same street. A hidden camera recorded how often passersby looked at one or the other. The results raise a troubling question about empathy and perception — And lead to taht claim : sometimes we’d rather be treated like animals.
