“Comprendre la réalité de ceux qui en perdent la notion.” / “Understanding the reality of those who lose touch with it.”

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Claude Pompidou Institute (ICP), a leading center in the fight against neurodegenerative diseases, La Mut’ and its partners are launching an awareness campaign that immerses us in the extraordinary daily lives of the teams who care for and support the residents.

When you first step inside the Claude Pompidou Institute, it’s truly something unexpected.
To better grasp the unique world in which the patients live, the entire medical and caregiving staff of the Institute uses methods that go far beyond traditional standards of care — and even, at times, beyond the norms of society itself.

Why not sit on the floor to share a meal with a patient?
Start a game of ping-pong, or create a piece of art together? Why not put on pajamas to help a patient understand that it’s time for bed?

These are just a few examples that illustrate the continuous and remarkable dedication of the ICP staff, who strive every day to help patients stay connected to reality and to rebuild, time and again, their bond with others.

It is the way researchers, doctors, caregivers, volunteers, and family members learn to understand the reality of those who lose touch with it — as expressed in the campaign’s signature line.
